Laura Maher was born and raised in Casco, Maine. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a minor in Criminology, from the University of Southern Maine in 2012, graduating summa cum laude. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 2016. During law school, Laura served as Research Editor of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal, Chair of the Women’s Law Association, and was an active member of the Maine Association of Public Interest Law. She gained practical experience as a Judicial Extern for the Maine District Court in Lewiston and as a Student Attorney at the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office.
Laura joined Monaghan Leahy in 2016. She focuses her practice on civil litigation, criminal law, and employment matters, with particular experience in personal injury cases, including automobile accidents and premises liability claims. She is admitted to practice in all Maine state courts and in the United States District Court for the District of Maine.
Laura lives in Windham, Maine with her husband, two children, and their family dog. An active member of her community, Laura enjoys coaching and attending her children’s youth sports, spending time outdoors and on the water, traveling, and sharing adventures with her family.
